Welcome to The Arts Society Wrekin
A friendly and dynamic organisation for anyone who enjoys expanding their knowledge and supporting a diverse range of arts and heritage projects in our area.
Established in 1974, the society offers an eclectic range of monthly lectures (except August and December) with renowned speakers designed to inform, engage and entertain. In addition, there is a balanced mix of study days, interesting visits and ‘Talk and Tea’ events, covering a wide range of subjects.
Our programmes include lectures on art, furniture, gardens, music, theatre, literature, architecture and history – truly something for everyone. Indeed, sometimes the most unlikely sounding topics turn out to be the most enjoyable and memorable.
The Arts Society Wrekin is an independent charity (since 2012) led entirely by volunteers. It is very active in supporting local arts and heritage causes through volunteering and with grants. Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends and make a real difference to local arts and heritage projects. This includes support to local museums, churches, schools and young artists in the community.
In 2025 we were honoured to be among the recipients of the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the equivalent of an MBE, in recognition of all the hard work carried out by the society's volunteers.
