THE ARTS SOCIETY WREKIN

WELCOME TO THE ARTS SOCIETY WREKIN, A MEMBER SOCIETY OF THE ARTS SOCIETY

The Society was formed in 1974 as Wrekin Decorative and Fine Arts Society and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2014. Fascinating information about its early days may be found on the About Us page. We changed our name to The Arts Society Wrekin in 2017 when the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) became The Arts Society.

First and foremost, the Society offers an eclectic range of lectures designed to inform, engage and entertain. In addition, there is a carefully researched and balanced mix of study days, visits and talk and tea events, covering a wide range of subjects of artistic, historical, architectural and geographical interest. Our programmes include lectures on furniture, gardens, music, theatre, literature, architecture and history – truly something for everyone. Indeed, sometimes the most unlikely sounding topics turn out to be the most enjoyable and memorable.

We are also proud to be an independent charity which is active in supporting local arts and heritage causes, running a Young Arts programme and offering volunteering opportunities. These include projects to support local museums, church recording and devising church trails for young people.

Please click on ‘Lectures’, ‘Visits', 'Special Events’ or 'Volunteering' for details of our current and recent programmes.

Airedale Solutions have changed our web site to The Arts Society. If it looks a little odd please refresh the web page by clicking on the circular arrow in your browser.

Before you can leave feedback, you will need to register your name and email address. This prevents the same person from leaving feedback more than once for the same lecture. Married couples are both able to register. Feedback is anonymous.
